Learn to sing in 5 minutes a day! Download for free!

"This may be the best iPad app yet. Worth buying the iPad for all by itself. Range, power, clarity, all improving day by day. A wonderful tool." - Music in Ashcroft

Can I learn to sing?
If you can talk, you can sing. Singing is a completely natural activity; our voices are designed for both speaking and singing (in ancient human tribes, everyone sang, not just a few “professional” singers). Singing uses basically the same skills as speech, but for singing we use our breath differently, hold sounds longer, and use a wider range of tones.

Don’t I need talent?
You may not be able to become the fastest marathon runner. However, unless you have a physical condition that prevents you from running, you can most definitely train to run marathons successfully, and get very good at it through regular exercise. Similarly, you may not be able to become the next Pavarotti; however, you can be as good as many professional singers who sing for a living, provided you train your voice regularly and with focus. Even if you’re not willing to put in a lot of effort, you can always improve from where you are, and have fun singing.

Why do I need training?
Just as you can’t run a marathon without any training and practice, you can’t sing well without training and practice. Lessons used in Erol Singer’s Studio focus on techniques and sounds that show you how to use your voice effectively, and prevent you from making the most common mistakes in singing, such as breathing poorly and closing your throat (e.g. by letting your larynx rise up). These carefully selected sounds, which have been in use for centuries around the world, ensure that your muscles are coordinated in the most useful ways for singing. By practicing these sounds and building up the muscle memory, it becomes easier to sing other sounds as well and you have more freedom in different parts of your vocal range.

Why Erol Singer’s Studio?
With Erol Singer’s Studio, we defined a new genre of vocal training software starting in 2012, and have improved it year after year with your feedback and our own ideas. Patented at its core, the app comes with a complete set of lessons organized into progressive levels designed by an award winning singer and vocal coach, best in class super-smooth pitch tracking technology that’s a joy to use, and an optional built-in exercise editor for those who’d like to add their own patterns/song-snippets for practice. But don’t take our word for it; download for free¹ and see for yourself.

The best voice training app I've found

Update: this app is still awesome. It’s a great exercise to do as part of your morning routine. Gets the voice loosened up and wakes you up. Also, I am using it to help keep my vocal chords strong after treatment for throat cancer. My doctor said it’s an awesome thing to do, better than the exercises they gave me (but not great for non singers ;)

Old review: I usually can't be bothered to write app reviews, but I will make an exception for an app that has demonstrably improved my life in some way. This app is one of those apps. I've tried many voice training apps, and this one takes the cake. I actually looked up the app in the app store to leave a plea for the developer to update the app so that it continues to work (I was getting a message saying that this app will not work with future iOS updates.) I was THRILLED to see a message in the app's description telling me not to worry, a big update is on the way. The only advice I would give is to keep adding exercises to keep it interesting. If you added actual songs? Ooh baby! Also, anything you could do to gamify it so we can really see how we're improving over time would be delicious gravy. Great app! 5 stars! Bravo! Bellisimo!

LOVE IT but...

It’s amazing. The best vocal app ever. If you aren’t that serious about singing it could even substitute for a teacher. If you are serious, I recommend using this in combination with a teacher. It has improved my pitch better than anything else. This has been a miracle for my ear. But: wish you could include blues and other types of scales for contemporary music. Additionally, the new update is cool in that it is a lesson plan with unlocking levels but since I am a more experienced singer I’d like to just pick and choose which exercises I’m doing on a given day. I don’t like to have to follow a certain plan if I know what exercises might be most useful on a certain day. The app’s last version made it easier to sift through which exercises I would do because you could see them laid out for each lesson which you can’t do anymore.

Other than that, it’s great. But please bring back the catalog approach and please include different scales (e.g., blues) so I could ensure I’m learning that on pitch as well.

Developer Response ,

Thank you for your review and feedback. Regarding additional ear training patterns, you will soon be able to create your own exercises and share them with other users, so you can add the exact patterns you find useful. The edit feature is already implemented; it's just waiting for some final testing and the community share feature.

Regarding the old lesson lists, they're still there. To access them, long-press any training program's icon and slide your finger to the little list icon that appears.

The new version also supports creation of custom training programs, which always jump directly to the lesson list without the need to long-press. Use the + button in the "My Content" section to create custom training programs, and use the ♡ button within the lesson pages to add exercises to them.

Happy singing.

Incredible!

I rarely ever leave reviews, but after using this app for a few days I felt it more than deserved a positive one. I've been playing and writing music since I was 10. I have taken piano and vocal lessons and I can honestly say that this app is more helpful than vocal lessons in that it saves $$ and makes it possible to get a visual representation of where you are and where you need to be. My vocal lessons were $25 per half hour and the first 15 mins or so were always dedicated to the breathing exercises alone. I stopped after a few days of lessons because $ was tight. This app costs less than a 30 min session and I have already improved my vocal technique tremendously. Thank you.
