Squffle is a music shuffle player for IOS that enables the creation of smart shuffled playlists, called 'Squffles', consisting of the music content in your Apple Music library including iCloud items. Squffle enables dynamic 'playlists within playlists' using defined Squffle Groups.
The Squffle app was inspired by and created for DeadHeads (fans of the Grateful Dead and like bands) who have large catalogs of live shows containing many classic standard track sequences linked by transitions that are intended to be listened to together, as a whole. Squffle dubs these 'Segues'. Segues get separated into separate tracks in the digital mastering process and subsequently when they are imported to your music library they become separate tracks. A playback shuffle containing these segue tracks has no way of knowing they belong together. Squffle solves the problem.
When a segue is encountered in a defined Squffle by the Squffle algorithm, it's retained. This happens for ALL INSTANCES of the segue in the Squffle.
Squffle segues are defined internally by the Squffle app and cannot be modified or disabled, however, the concept of Squffle segues has been generalized into the concept of ‘Squffle Groups’. Groups can be created by the user and once created, the group enables a collection of tracks to be retained as a whole, like a segue, and played back together. Squffle groups can be defined to either be played back in the order they’re defined or in random order (shuffled group) but will always be played back together, as a group of tracks. An example would be an album, concert or medley that the user wants to be played back as a whole within the context of a larger, shuffled playlist.
